Top Hat Steampunk Marci Shadowbox

Now here's another project from the first day of the La-la Land Palooza Retreat..........are you kidding?  Yup, I was delighted to be able to make one of these fabulous projects using the 3D Project kits found here.  Irina designed and created this project for us. Top Hat Steampunk Marci image can be found here. Finished project size is approximately 6-1/4" x 6-1/4" x 1". We used a variety of Distress inks on this project to achieve this look on the outside and inside frame.
I took a photo of the inside box before the lid was glued on for a clearer look-see. Because I love RED, I colored Marci with red accents: her eyeglasses, corset, buckle in her hat, and streaks in her black hair. The original color direction had red color hair which would have been great, too.
The left corner has a quilled flower/leaves, butterfly, gears which are all dies from La-la Land. You can also see the Black Hot Air Balloon (a La-la Land die) peeking in the background.
This photo shows the outside frame with gears that a "glazed" - I don't remember the name of the liquid but it is fast drying and is in a nail polish-like bottle.  I also added Glossy accents to the black leaf dies for stability.  After stamping the message, Glossy Accents also added, too. One of the gals who participated in the retreat inspired me to do this since her project was completed with this touch.
Left side of the frame has "glazed" gears, too. Again, the leaf has Glossy Accents for stability.
Top left (and all four corners) are the die cut corner..............note: there is a black corner behind the gold one for dimension........now this is what I call details!!!! Copper brads are used for each corner. Like the banner detail - it's, guess what?, a La-la Land die!!!! and it also has another black banner behind it for that added dimension. Leaves on this quilled flower have Glossy Accents added.
On the back is a easel which fits into the slotted holes. I love the detail of the decorative corners even though it is on the back side of the frame.
This is one cool project .................isn't it just gorgeous?...........it was very satisfying to complete. Stay tuned for more projects..................
